The Florida Primary is on March 15. Early voting has already started. Let’s get out and vote. So far this year, more Republicans have voted in presidential primaries than Democrats. This is troubling.
Here in Alachua County (Gainesville’s County) early voting started last Friday (March 4) and will end Sunday (March 12). The hours are 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. every day except Thursday (March 10), when the polls will be open from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.
Two Gainesville City Comission are races are also on the ballot. In one, Adrian Hayes-Santos and Jim Konish vie for the District 4 seat. The both have lists of small contributors and none of them are developers. Hayes-Santos’s is more impressive, including some great activists. I would recommend a vote for Hayes-Santos pending Konis’s lawsuit claiming that Hayes-Santos has not lived in the district long enough to run for the seat.
The other race is for Gainesvillle Mayor . The right-wing Tea Party Republican incumbent Ed Braddy, who won the seat in a runoff because his opponent was arrested on the eve of the primary three years ago, is running for re-election. He must go. A person of his mindset simply not a good fit for this city. Gainesville deserves better.Vote for Lauren Poe He is the better of the two alternatives to Braddy.
