UUFG Choir to sing at Gay Pride Festival

Gainesville Gay Pride Days are on! They started with same sex marriages in the sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville last Saturday. Tomorrow, the Gay Pride March will start at 12:p.m. And will be followed by the gay pride festival  downtown at 1: p.m.

The UUFG ( Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville (UUFG)always has a contingent in the parade, but this year I am excited to report that the UUFG’s Chalice Choir, of which I am a member, will be performing at the Festival starting at 2:p.m. We will be the first of a number of live musical acts. The list of pieces in our set is as follows:

  • “Waiting for the Light to Shine, from “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”;
  • “It don’t Mean a Thing”, Duke Ellinngton/Irving Mills, are. Mac Huff;
  • “River in Judea”;
  • “Walk the Streets of Gold”;
  • “This Little Light of Mine, negro spiritual arr. by Mark Hayes;

Our director, Tony Canty of the Festival a Singers of Florida, is going emcee.
